Often referred to as the heart of Prince George's County, District 6 is rich in history, character, diversity and home to some of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the County. District 6 is home to Prince George's Community College and the highly anticipated University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center, the state-of-the-art facility that will replace the 75-year-old Prince George's Hospital Center in Spring, 2021. The District is also home to two of the County's regional park facilities, Walker Mill Regional Park and Watkins Regional Park. Council District 6 stretches from its northern boundary (Maryland Route 450 (Annapolis Road)) including such neighborhoods as Fairwood and Woodmore North to the southern boundary of the District (Maryland Route 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue)) that includes older communities such as Little Washington, Roblee', and Melwood to newer communities including Marlboro Ridge, Marlboro Riding and Westphalia. Council District 6 also extends far west including the communities of Wilburn, Millwood-Waterford and Walker Mill in Capitol Heights, Forestville and the District's sole municipality, the City of District Heights to the far east of the District including newer communities like Beechtree, Balmoral, and Oak Creek. The heart of Council District 6 encapsulates multiple communities surrounding portions of Maryland Routes 202, 214 and 193 to include Mitchellville, Largo, Kettering and unincorporated parts of Upper Marlboro.
